Oak City Basketball is a non-profit recreational basketball league that focuses on the personal and athletic development of our student-athletes, and creates a safe, positive learning environment on and off the court. We hope to teach lessons of character, discipline, respect, responsibility, leadership, teamwork and above all sportsmanship. We strive to achieve individual excellence within a team dynamic.

Coach Dee has 35+ years of coaching and athletic playing experience. Over the years she has coached youth basketball, soccer, baseball, flag football, lacrosse and high school volleyball. She is passionate about helping children grow and develop new skills through the art of play. In 2017, she was recognized by 919 Magazine for her volunteer efforts with youth athletic programs in the Raleigh-Durham area. In addition to being a Co-Founder of the Oak City Basketball program, she has developed non-profit recreational programs for flag football, lacrosse, fitness and running clubs at Brier Creek Elementary School.
Originally from Buffalo, NY, Lape attended Sweet Home High School where she was a four-sport athlete, lettering field hockey, indoor track, softball and volleyball. She was a member of the volleyball program that holds the record for the most consecutive victories of any sport team in the nation, with 292 wins (1987-1992). Coach Dee went on to play Division I volleyball at Bucknell University and was a two-time MVP, All-Patriot League player. She currently works at SAS as a Principal Visual Product Designer and is married to her loving husband, Brian. They have two very active boys, Brandon and Cameron. |

Coach Kevin has coached youth basketball since 1998 in San Jose, CA and Raleigh, NC. He is the son of a former high school basketball coach and a fan of the Philadelphia 76ers who believes in the phrase “Trust the Process”. Cackovic played basketball collegiately at Carnegie Mellon University, where he graduated with a degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering. He now works at Intel as a strategic planner for their programmable solutions group. He lives in Holly Springs with his wife Melissa, daughter Kylie and son Jake.

Coach Kenny has 15 years of experience as a certified IFPA Personal Trainer, specializing in Speed, Agility & Quickness through NESTA. He is originally from Fuquay Varina, NC and was an All-Conference, MVP at FVHS that went on to play Division II football at Fayetteville State University. He also played in the National Minor Football League. Along with trianing athletes at various athletic clubs in the area, he worked with the Minnesota Twins and Georgia Tech Strength coaches. He currently coaches football at Fuquay-Varina High School. |
